2013 Sydney Miniatures Fair!

This past weekend, as a special treat, my Mum and I travelled to Sydney from Melbourne for the 2013 Sydney Dollhouse and Miniatures Fair. It was a great weekend and I was lucky enough to meet some fellow bloggers! I met Magaret from My Petit Parterre, and Fiona from A Passion for Miniatures. It was great to put some faces to names! 

I am very glad I went too because I was able to find some interesting things. I found some wonderful arts and crafts style wall paper for my bungalow dollhouse:


I picked up a cheap Chrysnbon bathroom and some nice tiles for the bungalow bathroom.


I also found some wonderful hand made colonial dining chairs.


Also, a nice little chaise lounge.


A little lyre sewing table and wash stand. 


A wonderful little hand made replica of an Australian meat safe. 


It is beautifully made. 


I also collected some sweet little lazer cut plant stand kits. 


And finally, the most exciting, some beautiful scandinavian style mirrored wall scones. These I bought for my Swedish house. The style is very hard to find, and finding them made the trip all the way to Sydney very worth while! They are made by Kim's Minis (from New Zealand), and I will be shopping there again!

    What fun. You found some great minis and you met some wonderful people! I just saw your last blog and the windows are superb. I really love those sconces. they are gorgeous.

      Thanks Giac! I am looking forward to finishing the bungalow - I am already planning where furniture will go and how it will be decorated.

    I loved those sconces, I wish I had a place for them they would look great in an early american mansion too (I always wanted an early american mansion)

      HI Marisa, Yes they would - I know there is some Scandinavian influences in American architecture due to the large number of Swedish immigrants in the 19th century. I would love to follow a project like an early American mansion! Hope you do one!

      Hi Ilona! Yes, I am very pleased with my lovely things - though it is a once a year treat because nice minis aren't cheap! Very exciting to meet fellow bloggers!

    Hi Emily,

    What a collection....and those wall Sconces!!!! Haha...That is the perfect example of why you must buy as soon as you see!! I knew as soon as you said you bought some some beautiful wall sconces I was in trouble....I dashed back and they were gone. Kim did say she would make me some more so I wasn't too disappointed. I think they will look beautiful in your house, along with all your other furniture, you really did well, such nicely made pieces.

    It was great to meet both you and Margret and your mother too......as I read your words I can see your face which is always nice. I will look forward to seeing your purchases in place, good luck with it all.

      Oh no! I am sorry! Haha when you said you had seen some nice sconces I thought: Woops! Yes they will be nice in my Swedish house - I hope that Kim can make you some more.

    You did really well Emily you must have a 'nose' for the goodies as I didn't see that furniture. I did see a couple of wall sconces left and the chandeliers were to die for but out of my price range unfortunately. It was lovely to meet you two lovelies but I am afraid I went into mini shopping frenzy and didn't catch up with you again. Ended up dehydrated and exhausted and could barely drive home. Did buy some pieces to 'personalise' for my shop though. Glad Fiona can get some sconces made for her.

      It was great to meet you! Yes the chandeliers were fabulous weren't they! I would have grabbed one if I could have. Will have to save up! It was a great day, was it not for my family being there I probably could have stayed for hours too! I look forward to seeing the new items in your shop.

    My fav of all your great buys is the chaise, and it looks great in the gallery.

    Hopefully we can meet up next year, surely I don't have any other friends who will decide to get married on Fair weekend and ruin all my plans! ;)
